Our 2019 Charity is the Joplin Humane Society
When the 2011 tornado hit the Joplin Humane Society took in and cared for 1306 animals. They helped all of them either be reconnected with their family or be adopted out.
Our 2019 donation will help maintain and expand the outdoor dog exercise track and play areas. Volunteers come and walk/run and play with the dogs in this area out back of their facility. It’s great for the health of the dogs and the humans! If you are interested in volunteering in this capacity please contact the center.
A portion of proceeds from each race goes back to the memorial and rebuilding efforts. The Joplin Memorial Run is proud to support tornado recovery since it’s transformation from Boomtown Run in 2011 to Joplin Memorial Run in 2012. Since 2012 we’ve donated over $250,000 to United Way, Rebuild Joplin, Bright Futures, and Bill and Virginia Leffen Center for Autism to help with tornado relief and recovery.
